Mountain News. A number of different Corruption songs

INTERVIEW
CORRUPTION WERE ONE OF THE FIRST BANDS TO START WORKING HERE WITH US ON THE SITE,AND THEIR LEAD SINGER AND BASS PLAYER"MARC"WAS ALSO THE PERSON WHO SUGGESTED THAT WE START A SECTION WITH INTERVIEWS
SO AS WE TOOK HIM UP ON HIS SUGGESTION,IT'S ONLY FAIR THAT WE NOW HAVE THE INTERVIEW WITH HIM,THIS ORIGINALY WAS PLANNED TO BE THE FIRST INTERVIEW WHEN WE OPENED THE SITE,BUT MARC'S WORK COMMITMENTS HAVE SEEN IT WAIT UNTIL NOW.
Q = First of all Marc I guess I should ask how long you have been
together?......
Marc = Corruption has been together in one form or another for 12 years now.
---
Q = Has the lineup of the Band changed much since you formed?
Marc = Initially, we formed as a five man band, cut that down to a dual
guitarist quartet when I took over vocal chores, now we've cut that down to a
basic three piece.  "Trimming the fat" I guess you could say.  (laughing)
---
Q = Where have the Band been playing? And what kind of gigs have you done?
Have you played as a support act for anyone yet?
Marc = The band mainly plays shows in the Rocky Mountain region headlining our
own concerts, and supporting national acts that come into the Denver area.
One recent band I recall having quite a good time with was Sacred Ryche; a
killer show with a great crowd with a massive pit!  I remember when Mercyful
Fate was in town, we got their guitarist Hank Shermann over to our practice
house to jam a set with us.  Now THAT was a blast!!!  Imagine jamming Fate
tunes like "The Oath" and "Come To The Sabbath", songs I grew up on have loved
for years, WITH the guy from Mercyful Fate!!!  Needless to say it was quite a
thrill.  We have since become friends and keep in touch as much as possible.
---
Q = Who were your major influences in Music?  What kind of Music do you like
to listen to Personally?
Marc = That's a difficult question, because a lot of various music from all
styles influence me personally.  But, if I had to make a list of influences
that I listen to, it would probably be a mixture of Pantera, Meshuggah,
Sepultura, Slayer, Rollins Band, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, 80s Iron Maiden, 80s
Metallica, Megadeth, Mercyful Fate, The Crumbsuckers, Rush, Yes, King Crimson,
Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, and The Chick Corea Elektric Band.  Let's see,
have I left anyone out?  (laughing)  But seriously, I can honestly say that
each of those bands have influenced my playing and writing in one way or
another over the years.  I am indebted to all of them.
---
Q = Who are the main song writers in the Band?  Or do you all share in the
writing of material?
Marc = We all contribute equally to the songwriting process, although as
vocalist, I do write all of the lyrics.  I gotta tell ya, we are really lucky
to have a drummer in Nick (Studen) that contributes so much musically.  It is
rare to see drummer with such good songwriting skills.  It is truly a three
man musical effort.  Nick and I have a running inside joke that he writes all
of the music and I write all of the drum parts!  LOL
---
Q = When did you record the Album? And where did you record it? Any good
stories from during the Recording Sessions?
Marc = We set up, miked, and recorded the drums and bass in one 3 hour session
in a Denver recording studio.  Thankfully, we had a little more time to record
guitars, and I personally spent 2 days doing the vocals.  Much of the CD has
three layers of vocal tracks, and in some places even four!  The entire
project was done in the fall of '97 and released around Christmas that year.
---
Q = What are the Plans for the Band in the Future?
Marc = Well, right now we are writing and polishing up new material for
another CD that we plan on going into the studio to record later this summer.
We will be breaking in the new stuff live for the next few months, working out
the kinks and getting it tight.  We have a reputation of being an extremely
tight band, a reputation which we are proud of, so we always road test new
material and pound the hell out of it before we drop it on to tape.  I am
really looking forward to the coming year.  We have received such a charged
and positive response from fans, zines, radio stations, and labels regarding
the "Crushed" CD, that I just can't wait for ya'll to hear the new shit!  It's
even more intricate, brutal, and intense, and in my opinion, the most
ambitious stuff we've written to date.  The future looks good, and it just
keeps getting better and better!
---
Q = Lastly, how would you describe your Music for anyone out there thinking of
Buying your CD?  What Style would you say it is in?
Marc = Well, we are probably best described as a tight, brutal-edged, modern
Metal band in the same vein as Pantera, Sepultura, Slayer, Meshuggah, etc.,
yet with an original twist that is unique to Corruption.  We are an explosive
3 piece band that make a lot of noise and have an insane live show that comes
across well in the studio and in the performances the CD.
---
Thanks for the Interview Marc and I hope all goes well for the Band in the
Future...Do you have any parting words for everyone?
Marc = Thank you, and it's been great talking with you!  Before I go I'd like
to say something about Corruption fans.  They are some of the most dedicated,
craziest and wildest people I have ever seen!  Without them, we would not
exist.  Our fans are the driving force that keeps us going and we pride
ourselves on maintaining a very good relationship with them.  I am always
happy to talk with anyone at our shows and/or online.   We currently have a
fanclub of roughly 300 people, and I receive email every day from fans living
in countries all over the world, of which I personally respond to each of
them.  After you listen to our CD, feel free to go ahead and write or email
us.  Let us know more about you, and we'll keep in touch!  Thanks again.  Stay
Corrupted!
